Your place of assignment in Vietnam
The nature-kindergarten on the outskirts of Hanoi uses modern teaching methods to improve the education of disadvantaged children in the rural region. For example, the children are mainly taught outdoors rather than indoors: The facility includes a large garden with trees, bushes, tropical fruits, vegetable patches, a fish pond, pets such as dogs, cats, etc. - in other words, an environment in which learning is really fun and a love of nature is conveyed.
As it is very expensive to look after and maintain this “school farm” on an area of 25,000 square meters, the staff have to work economically and cannot afford expensive teachers. The available rural English teachers are often poorly trained and the kindergarten is therefore always happy to receive support from the volunteers.
Your tasks in the nature-kindergarten
In kindergarten, you will work with children aged between three and five. Your main tasks will include helping the English teachers with their work and teaching the children English. You will also play with the little ones and keep an eye on them as they run around the farm. You will also help with cleaning and some maintenance work.
Your everyday working life in Vietnam
As a rule, you will work in the kindergarten from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Sometimes you will also work at the weekend, for example when the children go on excursions.
