We work with various local projects in Arusha that specifically help women and young mothers find an independent life . The women and mothers from our projects come from difficult living conditions, which are primarily characterized by poverty, domestic violence and stigmatization.
You have the opportunity to actively support these projects according to your wishes and talents, with no limits to your creativity.
Working hours are generally Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All projects can be reached by foot or with a short bus ride from the volunteer accommodation.
You can get involved in various areas and thus support women in leading a self-determined life.
In the projects, the women have the opportunity to learn skills such as tailoring, jewelry making, soap production, using computers or farming through various initiatives.
Many of the women had only limited access to education in their childhood and youth, which is why the projects not only provide them with English lessons but also knowledge in the areas of business and health education.
Some of the projects also have the task of teaching sex education to students in order to strengthen their self-confidence and educate them. Sanitary pads are luxury products in Tanzania, which means that girls from poorer families are often unable to come to school during their periods. The projects want to counteract this problem by producing and distributing reusable period products such as washable sanitary pads free of charge.
The main goal of this projects is to give women a chance to lead an independent and self-determined life. They can use the skills they learn to support their families and earn their own living.
