In the conservative state of Rajasthan, women and girls from the Dhalit communities often have limited or no access to education at all, due to the traditional allocation of roles. This often leads to a life of dependence, deprivation or poverty. As a volunteer, you can participate in a variety of activities and programs to strengthen the independence of these women and girls.
In various Empowerment Centers, women and girls receive lessons in writing, reading and maths on an hourly basis and can also learn crafting skills (such as sewing, beadwork, etc.). As a volunteer, you can not only teach here, but also offer meaningful workshops for women and girls, e.g. on the topics of hygiene, women's rights, menstruation etc.
Especially for girls in remote areas and rural areas of India, attending school is often difficult. The NGO operates a boarding home for students who attend school in Jodhpur during the week. Volunteers can offer homework tutoring and and afternoon leisure activities for the girls.
The NGO is the first organization in India to publicly speak on the prevention of sexual abuse.
As a volunteer in the No Bad Touch Program, you'll talk to a local coordinator in schools about this sensitive issue and hold workshops with the children.
Volunteers can also help the NGO with marketing and administration. You participate in public relations, write reports for the website, fundraising and the newsletter or develop your own marketing campaigns.
Volunteers with design, sewing or crafts skills can take classes at the local Sewing Centers.
Also volunteers of more mature age groups are welcome here!
