Make a difference in the lives of students while gaining invaluable teaching experience in one of the world’s most iconic destinations—the Galapagos Islands. As part of our Education Volunteer Program, you’ll assist or lead English classes, focusing on improving students' language skills and building their self-confidence. This project is perfect for anyone looking to strengthen their CV while making a meaningful impact.
Your role will primarily involve helping students improve their conversational English and pronunciation, which are critical skills in a tourist-driven economy like the Galapagos. By giving students the tools to communicate confidently in English, you open up opportunities for better jobs in the future, particularly in the growing tourism industry.
Whether you’re an experienced teacher or exploring teaching as a career, this program will give you the hands-on experience you need. You’ll work closely with local teachers, assist in the classroom, and even have the chance to lead your own lessons. If you're a native English speaker, your focus will be on helping students with pronunciation and conversational fluency. If you’re not native, your contribution will still be invaluable in guiding students through interactive lessons that help them practice speaking English in real-world contexts.
Beyond the classroom, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with the local community, experience the culture, and explore the natural wonders of the Galapagos. Living and working in places like Puerto Baquerizo Moreno or El Progreso, you’ll experience firsthand the island life that makes this destination so unique.
Your tasks in this program are diverse and rewarding:
• Assist teachers with lessons and class management
• Prepare and lead interactive English lessons focused on conversation and pronunciation
• Create engaging teaching materials like posters and flashcards
• Guide students in understanding the rules and norms of conversational English
• Lead English classes, supported by local staff when necessary
No prior teaching experience is required, but if you have it, that’s a bonus! This project is designed to give you practical experience in a classroom setting, helping you grow as an educator while making a lasting difference in the community.
This project is a chance to grow both personally and professionally while helping students gain the confidence and skills they need for a brighter future.
