Your placement location is one of many kindergartens in Cape Town. The kindergartens usually have space for between 70 and 240 children, depending on whether a preschool is attached. As a volunteer, you will support the staff at the facility in looking after the children. Some of them come from disadvantaged areas, the townships, where drug abuse and crime are unfortunately often widespread. The facilities offer them a safe and secure place where the children can develop freely and receive support. The children receive meals, lessons and care. As there is often a lack of staff, the support of volunteers is very welcome.

The aim is to improve the education and care offered in local kindergartens and preschools and to enable the children to develop healthily.

Your tasks in the kindergarten in Cape Town
If you are a volunteer in the area of childcare in a kindergarten in South Africa, you will support the teachers and local teachers in their daily work. You will accompany the children's daily routine, help with childcare, play with the children and feed the toddlers. In a preschool, you will assist a teacher in caring for and teaching the children, for example teaching them numbers, spelling or telling the time. Depending on the placement, you may also be involved in manual work.

There are no limits to your creativity when volunteering. Whether it's crafts, singing songs or playing catch - anything that brings variety to everyday life is fun. The children are often already excited when you give them a hug, read to them or romp around with them in the yard.

If you, as a volunteer, have great craft ideas or coloring books to brin, the children will be very happy. Such activities are an absolute highlight!

Dein Arbeitsalltag im Kindergarten
Beim Kindergartenprojekt in Südafrika arbeitest du von Montag bis Freitag in deiner Einsatzstelle mit. Die Einrichtungen sind von den frühen Morgenstunden bis zum frühen Nachmittag geöffnet. Mittags hast du eine Pause, in der du etwas zu Mittag essen kannst. Bei deiner Freiwilligenarbeit kannst du dich für einen bestimmten Tätigkeitsbereich entscheiden. Wenn deine Unterstützung jedoch gerade woanders gebraucht wird, hilfst du dort mit.
