About the school project
In rural areas of Vietnam, children are often disadvantaged, including in the education sector. The project focuses on compensating for this disadvantage; improving the school building and thus the learning environment and providing volunteers who can teach the children English, for example. As a volunteer, you can help to organize lessons and impart important knowledge to primary school children.
Your tasks in the project
You can take on a variety of tasks during your volunteer work. English lessons are particularly important: as teachers in rural areas often do not have the right qualifications, your help is needed here. You will support the teachers with preparation and training. If you feel confident, you can take on individual units yourself in consultation with the teachers.
Educating children about diseases and hygiene is also very important. Here you can step in and point out dangers.
In general, you will help look after the children, help with cooking and possibly with manual tasks such as assembling furniture.
Your daily routine in the project
You have breakfast in the morning at the accommodation together with other volunteers. School, and therefore your working day, starts between 8:00 am and 8:30 am from Monday to Friday. A normal shift lasts between five and eight hours, so your day ends around 4:00 pm. You are free in the evenings and at weekends.
