Details
As a participant in this conservation project, your voluntary commitment will take you to four different forests in New Zealand’s Kauri Coast region. You will work and live completely off-the-grid – after you were introduced to basic navigational skills which are necessary to operate in the rainforest, you will assist in tasks like kiwi monitoring, weed control, building maintenance and data entry. You will be part of an international volunteer team, always instructed and trained by experienced supervisors.
A special extra: Weekly excursions give you the chance to explore the beautiful Kauri Coast region even further – reaching from rainforest safaris to look for kiwis to beach walks and swimming trips.
Accommodation
Throughout your time as a volunteer you will live in a remote and basic but very cozy accommodation, situated at the edge of a forest. Here you will sleep in a dormitory cabin and use shared sanitary facilities. You will receive three meals per day which you need to help prepare. Your base amidst New Zealand’s breathtaking wilderness is extremely basic which means that water needs to be heated up first, and solar panels are used to be able to charge electronic devices.
Become a conservation volunteer in awe-inspiring New Zealand and support a fascinating conservation programme on the country’s magical Kauri Coast!
