About the street dog project
The dog project takes place in a veterinary clinic that was founded around 10 years ago. The clinic is committed to helping street dogs in Sri Lanka and aims to raise awareness of animal welfare. The dogs are admitted to the clinic, neutered, vaccinated and, if necessary, nursed back to health. In this way, the dog protection project counteracts the uncontrolled reproduction of street dogs and the spread of diseases.
Your tasks in the project
When you work on the dog aid project, you will take on various areas of activity. On the one hand, you are responsible for the dogs: you feed the animals, care for them and get them used to humans by playing and stroking them. You will also clean the dogs' enclosures and pens at the job site. If you have previous knowledge of veterinary medicine, you can also watch the specialists on site treating the dogs and gain an insight into veterinary medicine.
Your daily routine in the project
In the dog project, you usually work 5 days a week, about 7 hours a day. You have different shifts; your working hours are between 6 am and 8 pm. The specific times you work will be agreed with you on site. You have two days off per week, but these do not necessarily fall on the weekend.
