Volunteer work in the Tiger Project in Nepal

Bengal tigers are highly endangered in Nepal. Conflicts with local farmers and ranchers often lead to the tigers being shot. Work as a wildlife volunteer for these big cats at the edge of Chitwan National Park and help to secure their habitat and their survival!

Your job site in Nepal
Your job site is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of wild tigers in Nepal has prescribed. In the forest areas around the village Meghauli, on the border of Chitwan National Park, the team has officially been observing the movements of tigers since 2010, is taking a stand against poachers and, if necessary, resettling the big cats. Their work continues research that began in 1974 and has developed over the years into a well-coordinated animal welfare campaign.

Your tasks in the wildlife project
During your volunteer work in the tiger project in Nepal, you can help in all areas. For example, you can work with the tracking processes. Among other things, you will enter GPS data, set up camera traps and evaluate the images taken. You will also take part in anti-poaching projects and support the team in their educational seminars in schools and the local community. In addition, you have the opportunity to help in projects that aim to minimize conflicts between tigers and humans, or to make suggestions yourself.

You can also help to prepare, copy and organize information material such as leaflets for seminars and visitors. To protect the animals' habitat, you can also help remove rubbish from the protected areas during clean-up campaigns.

Your working day in the wildlife project
In the morning you walk to your place of work. It takes about 10-30 minutes to walk from your accommodation. You usually work in the project from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On days when you are working outside of the location in the forest, your workday may be longer. You will get lunch during your break.

You will have two days off per week. Since the team also works on the weekends, your days off will depend on the project work and may fall on weekdays.

Festivals take place from October 5-10 and November 7-9, during which work is temporarily suspended.

Hébergement & repas :
You live in a home stay near the job site. You usually share your room with another volunteer.The accommodation has a bathroom and a toilet with running water, and internet access via mobile data is possible. There is a laundromat in the village where you can wash your clothes.
